Enamelled copper wire is the core of motors and coils.

1. The function and structure of enameled copper wire
Enamelled wire is a general term for copper wires that utilize the law of electromagnetic induction to achieve mutual conversion between electrical energy and magnetic energy. It serves as an essential raw material for core components such as motor windings in automobiles, industrial motors, home appliances, electronic devices, and inductive coils used in communication equipment. With the rapid advancement of the modern chemical industry, today’s enamelled wires employ synthetic resins as insulation coatings, offering a wide variety of types—from acetal resins with excellent resistance to transformer oil to polyimide resins that withstand high temperatures. Moreover, there are also synthetic enamelled wires coated with multiple types of resins. As for conductor materials, they have evolved from solely copper to a range of metallic materials, and their shapes have expanded from the original simple circular cross-section to include various forms, such as nearly rectangular flat wires.
2. Development History of Enamelled Copper Wire and the Company’s Main Products
During motor winding, it is generally desirable to enhance the motor’s performance—specifically, to maximize the slot fill factor (the ratio of the conductor area of the wire inside the motor slot to the slot’s overall area). To achieve this, we aim to wind as much enameled wire as possible into the slot, which in turn places stringent demands on the processability of the enameled wire. In actual motor winding operations, it is relatively common for the enameled wire to suffer damage due to friction with the winding jigs. To mitigate this issue, we need to address it from two key angles: first, enhancing the adhesion between the wire’s insulation film and the conductor itself; and second, reducing the insertion force between the enameled wire and the winding jig. For this reason, our company has developed the UTZ and HGZ series, which offer superior processability. By improving the lubricity and wear resistance of the enameled wire, the UTZ and HGZ series make the wire better suited to demanding processing conditions. Moreover, these products exhibit excellent resistance to refrigerants, making them particularly well-suited for use in refrigerant environments. As a result, they are widely employed in the manufacture of high-efficiency compressors with high slot fill factors.
